Vermiculite has a widespread use worldwide in agricultural activities. Vermiculite constitutes a suitable plant growing environment due to its structure in terms of agriculture. It is often used in the formulation of fertilizers by mixing with peat or peat. The vermiculite/peat or coconut shell formulation creates the ideal conditions for a plant to grow. The presence of vermiculite grains in the fertilizer helps aeration, contributes to the development of retention moisture and the release of added fertilizers, while vermiculite with potassium, magnesium and other small elements. Vermiculite can also be used as a storage agent and expander for fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides. It can also be used in powder form for encapsulated seeds. In horticulture, vermiculite provides moisture and the nutrients it needs, as well as aeration of the soil that the plant needs in order for the roots, stems and seeds to grow faster.
It is recommended to mix the soil, which has a heavy and sticky character, with vermiculite one to one or half to one as a volumetric ratio. Thus, air channels will be opened in the soil, the plant will be allowed to breathe. Vermiculite-soil mixture meets the air needs needed for flowers, vegetables or houseplants and ensures the vigorous growth of the plant. If the soil is very sandy, the use of vermiculite again helps the soil retain water and provide the air needed by the plant.
